Migrants are vulnerable, it’s my job to protect them.
A client wanted a second Skills in Demand visa as he is over 45 and can't apply for Permanent Residency. His employer wanted him to pay all the costs. I explained the legalities of the situation, the employers legal responsibilities and heard nothing back from them.
This visa holder has been in Australia for many years with his family. His kid is in Year 12. I understand his desperation to stay and I know very well that he will pay anything his employer tells him to, to stay in Australia for his kid. I know they will find someone less moral who will do the application for him. But I won't be complicit to the exploitation of migrants.
I mostly love my job, but this... it breaks my heart.

The news of liquidation is devestating not onlybfor the migrants they were assisting, but also for the Migration Industry as a whole. There is so much fear around getting ripped off as a migrant, by employers, by shonky fake agents and now a respected agency going bust.
You may or may not be able to get some funds back if your application is yet to be lodged. If your application has been lodged, you can get access to it. I am here to help anyone affected. I will go over your options to help you decide how to move forward with your matter. Whether that be to self manage or to contact the liqiudators and try to recoup your funds and start again.

Gold Migration Lawyers went into liquidation yesterday, leaving customers out of pocket thousands of dollars and their visa applications unresolved.

We are over the moon to let our clients know their application for Employer Nominated Sponsorship in the Direct Entry stream has been approved. This means that they are now Permanent residents of Australia!

We then received a lovely response from our client:

Update: legislation has been passed to cancel Visitor visa for offshore Iranian passport holders. There are exemptions and if you need assistance, please reach out to [email protected]

On March 14th new legislation upgraded the Governments powers to refuse entry or cancel temporary visas. This is causing a lot of concern among travellers and migrants. Travelling and moving causes a lot of anxiety for most people, which is understandable in our beauraucratic world.
In this case, this legislation is designed to be used in major events, requiring further legislation to pass through parliament to stop specific groups from travelling to Australia. It is not aimed at individual travellers coming here for a holiday or to return to their jobs.

AI is a hot topic at the moment and I am hearing from people that have relied on AI generated information and ended up in a migration pickle that could have been avoided by talking to an RMA. It may cost more, but proper legal advice should always be researched and specific to the individual client.
The department of Home Affairs has sent instructions to Migration Agents warning us to be wary of AI:
"Importantly, caution must also be exercised when using AI tools for legal research.AI-generated content may appear credible, but it can be inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated. These tools do not always cite sources, and references to legislation or policy may be fabricated or misleading."
A recent Federal Court ruling shows the dangers of AI:
In a ruling by the Federal Circuit and Family Court in February 2025, an immigration lawyer was referred to the Office of the NSW Legal Services Commissioner for consideration after it was discovered that he had used ChatGPT to write court filings in one of his cases and the AI platform generated case citations that did not exist.

The end of October, both Sarah and Kimberley attended the MIA National Conference held in Brisbane. It was great for them to meet other agents and lawyers from across Australia, and attend several CPD's in person.
They both attended the Gala evening and looked amazing.
