A mentor does more than teach. A mentor shapes how we think, decide and grow.
The relationship between Lord Krishna and Arjuna is a timeless example of meaningful mentorship. Krishna did not make Arjuna’s choices for him. He offered wisdom, challenged his thinking, gave him clarity and trusted him to choose his path.
“Whatever a great person does, others follow; whatever standard they set, the world follows.”
— Bhagavad Gita 3.21
The true responsibility of a mentor is to share knowledge, lead by example and empower the mentee to become capable of walking their own path.
This Janmashtami, may we be fortunate to learn from those who guide us, and mindful of the responsibility to guide those who look to us.
Because the greatest legacy of a mentor is not what they teach, but the people they help become.
