Although religious workers, including ministers, pastors, and priests are no longer on the main skilled occupation list, there is a temporary visa that specifically caters to religious workers - the subclass 408 visa (Religious Work stream).

We assisted the Born family with their 408 visa including an extension, allowing them to live and work in Australia for a period of 4 years.

For religious workers to secure a PR eventually, you can consider the labour agreement pathway, which forms part of the 186 Employer Sponsored visa programme (a permanent visa in short).

Previously, the labour agreement stream was only available for an organisation's most senior leader such as Minister of Religion.

However, recent changes have broadened the scope to include the nomination of Religious Assistants as well.

Based on our experience, the Department takes approximately 6 months to process our COVID visa applications. This gives us plenty of time to assess your situation.

This week, our lawyers have worked really hard to finalise the necessary documentation for our clients, whether it be visa applications or property settlements, in anticipation of long weekend.
