Could you have TPD insurance through your super and not even know it?

Many people are surprised to discover they already have Total and Permanent Disability (TPD) insurance included with their superannuation.

This type of cover is often provided automatically through employer super funds. If an illness or injury has affected your ability to work, your super may include insurance that provides a lump sum benefit to support you financially.

In this video, our TPD Practice Manager Khush explains:
✔️ How TPD insurance is commonly included through superannuation
✔️ Why you may have cover without knowing it
✔️ How TPD insurance may provide financial support if you can no longer work due to illness or injury

Understanding your insurance cover can be confusing, especially while you're dealing with the impact of an injury or illness.

If you're unsure whether your super includes TPD cover or whether you may be eligible to make a claim, our team can help you understand your policy and your options with a free, no-obligation consultation.

If you ride or drive on Victorian roads, you've likely hit a pothole, or had to swerve around one.

Most of the talk has been about the cost of new tyres and rims. But there's a more serious side that gets far less attention: the crashes these road surfaces can cause, and the people left seriously injured as a result.

Our Principal, Henry Carus, was featured in The Age today discussing this growing issue. He described it as "a wave that's coming," and our firm is currently helping a motorcyclist injured after hitting a pothole.

If this has happened to you or someone in your family, two things are worth knowing:
🔹 The TAC covers people injured in transport accidents in Victoria, regardless of who was at fault, so being hurt in a pothole crash does not mean you are left with nothing.
🔹A separate claim against the road authority may be possible in some cases, but these are difficult, and the evidence gathered at the time, including photos of the road, can matter enormously.

You don't need to have all the answers today. If you're unsure where you stand, one conversation with our TAC lawyers can often replace a lot of uncertainty.

Injured in a single-vehicle or pothole crash on a Victorian road? Under the TAC’s no-fault scheme you may still be entitled to support. Here’s how it works.

Does a TPD claim mean you’ll never work again?

It’s a common misconception that making a Total and Permanent Disability (TPD) claim means you must be completely unable to work for the rest of your life.

The reality is more complex.

Whether you are eligible for a TPD benefit depends on the terms of your insurance policy and the way it defines disability. Some policies look at whether you are unlikely to return to work in an occupation suited to your education, training and experience, while others use different criteria.

In this video, our TPD team explains:
✔️ Why TPD definitions can differ between insurance policies
✔️ What insurers consider when assessing a claim
✔️ Why understanding your individual cover matters

If you’re unsure what your policy means or whether your circumstances may meet the requirements for a TPD claim, our team can help you understand your options.

How long does a personal injury claim take?

It’s a question we hear from many clients, and it’s completely understandable. When you’re dealing with an injury, uncertainty about the future can be challenging.

The reality is that there is no one-size-fits-all answer. The time it takes to resolve a claim depends on many factors, including the type of claim and how your injury affects you over time.

In this video, lawyer Angus Dowling explains why taking the time to properly understand the impact of an injury is often an important part of achieving the best possible outcome.
While everyone wants certainty as soon as possible, rushing to settle before the full picture is clear may not always be in your best interests.

Our focus is helping clients make informed decisions and move forward with confidence.
