Police across Australia are now receiving world-leading training to better respond to family, domestic and sexual violence incidents.

Developed as part of the National Plan to End Violence against Women and Children 2022–32, this innovative national program will equip officers with enhanced skills to protect victim-survivors and support safer outcomes for families experiencing violence.

If you or someone you know needs support navigating family violence matters, our team can help you understand your legal options.

Our Head of Marketing & Client Engagement, Kylie Barnes, was privileged to attend the Carlton Respects 10 Year Anniversary Dinner last night. A deeply meaningful evening celebrating a decade of purpose-driven leadership from the Carlton Football Club.

Carlton Respects exists to harness the influence of football to drive real, lasting change, and the impact speaks for itself. Over 17,000 students have been reached through the Road to Respect program, and a community continues to unite behind a future free from violence against women and children.

The night featured an inspiring lineup of speakers and panellists who each play an integral role in championing the respect movement. Hearing from Jason Richardson and Patty Kinnersly, CEO of Our Watch and Co-Vice President of Carlton Football Club, was a powerful reminder of why this initiative matters so deeply. The panel brought together Tarang Chawla, one of Australia’s most recognised voices in the movement to end violence against women and children, AFL player, Marc Pittonet, who actively champions the Carlton Respects program on and off the field, and AFLW player Harriet Cordner, a leading advocate for the initiative. Together, they represented exactly the kind of authentic and unwavering leadership this cause demands.

Leading up to the annual AFL Carlton Respects game in Round 12, we are proud to stand in support of this mission. Thank you, Carlton Football Club, for ten years of courageous advocacy. The work being done is nothing short of extraordinary.

Respect, it’s up to us🧡

At Nicholes Family Lawyers, we believe in the importance of mentoring the next generation of family lawyers so they can grow, develop confidence, and reach their full potential.

Managing Partner Sally Nicholes was joined at the International Academy of Family Lawyers (IAFL) Asia Pacific Chapter Meeting in Kuala Lumpur by Senior Associate Jessica Coles-Black, who has been with Nicholes since 2022.

Having Jessica attend and participate in the conference has been a wonderful opportunity for her professional development and a reflection of our firm’s commitment to investing in our emerging leaders.

Family law is a people profession. The same care we bring to our clients, we try to bring to our team.

Thank you to the IAFL for allowing Jessi to attend as a Lawyer guest at this importance forum.

One of our own is taking on the Kokoda Track and we're backing her every step of the way.

Head of Marketing & Client Engagement, Kylie Barnes, is hiking the iconic 96km Kokoda Track in Papua New Guinea as part of her involvement with Geelong Youth Engagement (GYE), an organisation dedicated to supporting disengaged young people aged 15–18 across the Geelong region.

GYE's programs provide mentorship, education, and real-world experiences that help young people reconnect with their future. To support this work, GYE is hosting fundraising events throughout 2026 – including trivia nights, auctions, and raffles.

If your business has goods or services you'd be willing to donate as auction or raffle prizes, it would go a long way toward supporting the young people GYE works with every day.

To find out more or get in touch, contact GYE directly at [email protected] or visit geelongyouthengagement.org.au

For those who couldn’t join our Victorian Law Week 2026 webinar on recent changes to family violence laws, the recording is now available to watch online.

Our panel, moderated by Partner Bec Dahl, explores how these reforms are impacting victim‑survivors, older people, LGBTIQA+ communities, and those experiencing financial stress or isolation, and outlines practical first steps if you are worried about yourself or someone you know.

Thank you so much to our incredible panel for their incredible insights!
