Under Ministerial Direction 117 (which replaced Direction 102 in July 2026), Family visa applications are prioritized as follows:

1️⃣ Applications subject to ministerial intervention
2️⃣ Partner or dependent child applications
3️⃣ Orphan relative applications
4️⃣ Contributory parent / contributory aged parent applications
5️⃣ Carer applications
6️⃣ Parent, aged parent, remaining relative, or aged dependant relative applications

✅ Highest priority goes to applications made while the primary applicant is in Australia, for visas that can be granted onshore.

📌 Applications outside Australia (or requiring the applicant to be offshore at grant) are given lower priority.

For visas subject to capping and queuing (like parent visas), Ministerial Direction 103 applies, processed strictly in queue date order.
