π¨ Victoria 190 & 491 Update: New Fees + Victorian Points Test for 2026-27 π¦πΊ
The Victorian Government has published key changes to its Skilled Visa Nomination Program for the 2026-27 year. Hereβs what you need to know π
π° 1. Fees now apply
Registration of Interest (ROI): AUD $60
Subclass 190 nomination application: AUD $180
Subclass 491 nomination application: AUD $180
π 10% GST is added only if you are in Australia at the time of payment.
π The nomination fee is paid only if you are invited and submit a nomination application.
π The ROI fee is charged once per program year.
π Fees are generally non-refundable.
π 2. All ROIs will be ranked using the Victorian Points Test (VPT)
This is Victoriaβs own ranking system, separate from the Australian Governmentβs points test. ROIs with the highest VPT totals are invited in each round.
The 7 VPT factors:
β
Age: 300 points for ages 20β29, reducing each year down to 16 points at age 44
β
English: Competent 0 | Proficient 100 | Superior 200
β
Experience in nominated occupation: 0 to 100 points (100 for more than 8 years)
β
Education: Other 25 | Bachelors/Honours 50 | Masters 75 | PhD 100
β
Occupation skill level: Skill level 1 gets 50 points (levels 2 and 3 get 0)
β
Partnerβs skill: 50 points if you claimed 10 partner points in your EOI, your partner is included in your visa application, and your partnerβs occupation is a current priority industry occupation
β
Annual earnings from current skilled employment in Victoria: 8 points (AUD $80,000β$84,999) up to 150 points (AUD $170,000 and over)
π― 3. Two ways to get invited
Most competitive: highest VPT totals across all eligible occupations
Priority industry: highest VPT totals within each priority industry
π₯ 2026-27 priority industries: Healthcare, Social Assistance, Education, Construction
π 4. ROIs are valid for one program year only
An ROI is valid only for the program year in which it is submitted. If you lodged an ROI in a previous year, you will need to submit a new one for 2026-27.
β οΈ Important points
You still need at least 65 points on the Australian Governmentβs points test
Victoria cannot prioritise personal circumstances like age or an expiring visa
An invitation or nomination is not guaranteed
β³ The 2026-27 program has NOT opened yet. Eligibility criteria and further details will be published when it opens.
