AUSTRALIA FEDERAL BUDGET 2026β27 MIGRATION UPDATE π¦πΊ
The Federal Government has announced reforms to Australiaβs permanent migration system, with a stronger focus on selecting YOUNGER, BETTER-EDUCATED AND HIGHER-SKILLED MIGRANTS to help address ongoing workforce shortages.
As per the 2026β27 Federal Budget update, the PERMANENT MIGRATION PROGRAM will remain capped at APPROXIMATELY 185,000 PLACES, with OVER 70% RESERVED FOR SKILLED MIGRANTS.
The Government will also prioritise ONSHORE APPLICANTS across both skilled and family streams, while offshore places will mainly focus on high-skilled migrants who can support Australiaβs long-term skills needs.
These updates may affect applicants planning to apply for SKILLED VISAS, EMPLOYER-SPONSORED VISAS, STUDENT VISAS, WORKING HOLIDAY VISAS AND PR PATHWAYS.
