Have you been executor of a deceased estate? I need your help for a few minutes to complete a couple of surveys.

I am lawyer and an Accredited Specialist in Wills and Estates.
The Victorian Government is proposing significant increases of up to 650% to Probate Application Fees, with fees of up to $15,407.40. https://engage.vic.gov.au/review-of-probate-fees Executors do not have access to deceased's funds, and lawyers are likely to adopt a practice of requesting the executor pay the fees upfront.
Everyone I have spoken to, both lawyers and members of the community are opposed to the fee increases.

There is a consultation period at the moment. I ask that people who have been an executor complete the survey at: https://engage.vic.gov.au/review-of-probate-fees

Also, I am completing a survey to ascertain the impact on executors and administrators to assist in my submission. The survey is located at: https://forms.office.com/r/faw7QrTZMi

Please feel free to message me if you have any questions (or need your Will done)!

An unfortunate reminder to ensure that in preparing death benefit nominations to ensure that this is done in conjunction with an estate plan and proper advice is received. Whilst the below does not provide details, it seems that the mother may not have met the definition of dependant for SIS purposes. However, an estate planning lawyer would have been able to advise of the eligibility of the mother as a dependant and other options to ensure Ms Petrie's wishes were carried out.

Ashleigh Petrie died at 23, just weeks after her relationship with magistrate Rodney Higgins, 68, made news. She left her superannuation to her mother, then Higgins claimed it.
