No. In NSW, there is no cooling-off period when you buy a property at auction. If you are the successful bidder at the auction, you are legally bound to complete the purchase. You will be required to sign the contract and pay the 10% deposit immediately (unless a lesser deposit has been agreed prior to auction).

If you are interested in purchasing a property that is scheduled for auction, you should engage a solicitor or conveyancer as early as possible to help you do your due diligence and prepare for the auction.

Australia’s updated Anti-Money Laundering Laws are now in place and have a significant impact on the property industry.

New obligations now apply to:

• Accountants

The obligations include stricter:

✔️ Compliance requirements
✔️ Reporting requirements
