POSITION AVAILABLE - OFFICE JUNIOR / JUNIOR LEGAL ASSISTANT

Barron & Allen Lawyers Mackay is seeking an office junior (entry level position) to join their friendly team. The successful candidate will have a chance to prove themselves as a competent and valuable addition to the firm and legal industry, and must:

• Be friendly and enthusiastic
• Be polite and have a professional telephone manner
• Be well presented
• Be very organised with exceptional time management
• Have an ability to learn new tasks quickly
• Have an eye for detail
• Be able to work independently and in a team environment
• Have above average typing skills

Your responsibilities will include:

• Data entry/typing
• Banking
• Attending Government offices and law firms
• Collections and deliveries
• Collecting and sending mail
• Archiving files
• Kitchen and stationery orders
• Maintaining kitchen and reception areas
• Assisting with file work when required

The ideal candidate will have completed at least year 10 studies and achieved above average grades. This position would suit a high school graduate looking to join the work force. The position will be a full-time role (Monday to Friday) and is available for an immediate start. Full mentoring and training will be provided and you will have the opportunity to progress your skills and career in the legal industry.

CONVEYANCING CLERK

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced conveyancing clerk to work in our Mackay office. The position is available for an immediate start.

The successful applicant will work with a partner of the firm in our conveyancing department. The ideal applicant will be experienced in the areas of:

• Conveyancing – sales and purchases of commercial, industrial, rural and residential property; and
• General property and commercial matters.

Duties will include:

• Conduct of conveyancing matters;
• Liaising with clients;
• Assistant duties, including diary management;
• Drafting legal correspondence and documents;
• Attending settlements;
• Billing; and
• General file & administrative duties.

To be considered for this role, you will need to:
• have prior experience in a law firm, particularly in
conveyancing;
• have an eye for detail and demonstrate above average literacy skills;
• have excellent communication skills, both written and oral;
• be able to work independently and as part of a team;
• have a working understanding of PEXA transactions;
• have a working understanding of legal practice management software and Microsoft Office suite; and
• have excellent prioritising and time management skills.
