Did you know that as of today, paper certificates have been abolished? They are no longer considered a legal document. Don't worry, it doesn't mean that you no longer own your property! However, if you pay off your mortgage you won't receive a paper certificate of title, nor will you receive one if you're a cash buyer of property. The Torrens Title Register has and always will be the single source of truth as to the ownership of a person's property. If you have a paper certificate of title for your property you can either do nothing, destroy it or frame it.
