In February 2021 Alison’s (name changed) mother called me to ask me to help with Alison’s multiple criminal matters.

Alison was refused bail on a charge of wounding with intent because of an allegation that she stabbed her now ex-partner through the leg.

The first step involved getting Alison bail, which we did.

We then spent the next few months meticulously dissecting all the evidence against her in multiple matters and negotiating with prosecutors to reduce the charges she was facing.

On Friday she pleaded guilty to a charge of assault occasioning actual bodily harm instead of wounding and to a number of smaller charges in lieu of more serious drug charges.

She left court with good behaviour bonds free to get on with her life. She is only 19.

This is what her mother emailed me last night “You quite literally changed the course of my daughter’s life. I can never adequately express to you my family’s gratitude or how truly happy Alison is”

This week we represented a man who came into our office 7 months ago charged with negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm. He was almost certainly facing custody.
Instead we negotiated for him and he pleaded guilty to a charge of negligent driving and walked out of the Downing Centre with a $500 fine and no disqualification able to continue supporting his family in his job as a truck driver.

Yesterday we ran a hearing for our client charged with supplying a prohibited drug. He had shared a small quantity of drugs with a friend and was charged with supplying that drug.
We argued that the evidence of his admissions, the basis on which he was charged, should be excluded because police had unlawfully obtained those admissions when they failed to caution him.
We won that argument and the supply and possession charges were dismissed.

Our client received an incredible sentence today at Hornsby Local Court. He was before the court on four drive whilst disqualified charges and a charge of driving under the influence of a drug with a collision involved.

Our client avoided full-time custody and today will walk out of jail after being bail refused since New Year’s Eve. He is going home to his wife and two young children
This is what she said;

Today our client was sentenced for a supply of an indictable quantity of methamphetamine and walked out of court without a conviction. He can keep his job, travel the world 🌍 (when any of us can have that pleasure) and get on with his life without the burden of a criminal history.
