With the great assistance of Phillip Boulten SC, we successfully appealed the severity our client's manslaughter sentence this week, reducing his non-parole period by almost 30%.

It was held by the Court of Criminal Appeal that the sentencing Judge fell into error when making an assessment of the objective seriousness of Mr Paterson's conduct which materially contributed to the death of the victim.

The CCA also held that Mr Paterson's original sentence was manifestly excessive - which warranted the Court to re-sentence Mr Paterson to a head sentence of 12 years and non-parole period of 9 years.
