It’s the end of an era today.

We’ve closed the commercial, property, wills & estates division of Just Us. More than 20 years of assisting locals with some of life’s biggest transactions. Colin will continue to be buried deep in Federal Court documents supporting his Native Title clients to ensure their cultural heritage is preserved for generations to come.

It’s been quite the ride from under Colin’s house at Harriet Street in the early 2000s, to converting the Kelvin Grove Butcher shop into offices that served us well for 15 years, then to a couple of years back under Colin’s house at the Grange. Liz and the boys will surely enjoy having their home to themselves without the incessant ringing phones and noisey chatter (aka Nikki and Colin, two Taurean bulls’ “banter”).

We’re all excited about our next chapter. Dylan will be focusing on commercial matters at South Geldard Lawyers. Nikki is returning to her Eagle Street stomping ground and commercial work of the 90s working for a former Just Us colleague Elizabeth at Ardor Legal. Olivia graduated her law and psychology degrees at the end of 2024 and is currently completing her Practical Legal Training. Patricia is embarking on her final semester of her law and communications degrees. Big decisions ahead for both Liv and Pat as they decide which direction to try first, but we’re confident wherever they land they’ll both be fantastic assets to their employers and clients.

As the virus situation is of considerable concern at the moment due to its wide spread in our community, the Just Us Lawyers team will be working remotely when returning to work on Monday 10 January 2022.

Our office will be closed except by appointment.

Appointments will be offered if our team determine a face to face meeting is absolutely necessary.

Just Us Lawyers is looking for a Solicitor with 3+ years current general practice experience. Experience in Property, Wills and Estate Administration will be favourably considered.

We are looking for an energetic motivated Solicitor who shows initiative and confidence, is a team-player who can also work independently without supervision. The Principal is open to discussions with a Solicitor who has an existing client base or case load to bring to the firm.

The Role

# Liaising with and providing practical legal advice to clients
# Communicating and meeting with stakeholders
# Drafting legal documents including submissions and attending Court

About you

# A minimum of 3 years PAE
# A comprehensive understanding of Queensland law and procedure
Strong time management and organisational skills together with the capacity to manage multiple matters and conflicting priorities simultaneously and autonomously
# You will be able to effectively meet expectations and communicate confidently and professionally with clients to provide high quality professional advice (written and verbal)
# Experience appearing at Court
# Ability to source and retain new clients
# Experience using legal file management software (we utilise LEAP and Microsoft)
# An interest in establishing a long-term successful career with Just Us Lawyers
