DO YOU KNOW WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU DON’T HAVE A VALID WILL?

You can use an online service or buy a will kit to fill in or write your own will. Unfortunately, many times these don’t work out too well - they appoint an executor but no alternate, or they give away certain items but forget about everything else.

The executor is the person or organisation who you appoint to carry out your wishes and manage your estate.

A beneficiary is a person or organisation that you want to receive all or part of your estate after your death.

If you die without a valid will, you have died ‘intestate’ which leaves your estate to be distributed according to legislation regardless of what you may have wanted.

I’m buying a house! Why does the real estate agent tell me I need a conveyancer? What is that?

The legal process of transferring real property is known as “conveyancing”. Whilst Roman law and Greek law had methods of transferring property, it is generally accepted that modern conveyancing derived from English statutes from about the thirteenth century. The system was complicated with each document creating a proof of ownership ‘chain’ with the chain getting longer and longer and the bundle of documents handed from owner to owner getting bigger and bigger.

The system has been refined since then and with the advent of computers and more and more online activity, there is no longer even a paper 📝 Certificate of Title produced!

💪🏏 SEASON 2024/25 SQUAD - PLAYER PARTNER UPDATE🏏💪

We take the opportunity to re-introduce Crusher Elissa Andrews who will be joining our 2nd Grade squad this season.

We are thrilled to announce that Elissa is now partnered with Houston Lawyers of Gosford for Season 2024/25.

Houston Lawyers provide affordable legal advice on anything from family law to property and conveyancing to wills and probate, and we are grateful for the support that their partnership will provide to both Elissa and the Crushers this season.

By way of re-introduction, Elissa hails from the Central Coast and brings years of premier grade and representative cricket experience to the playing group. Not only that, she is also a qualified umpire.

While she might bat right handed, Elissa is one of those cricket unicorns who bowls a mean left handed off-spin which brings a point of difference to our 2nd grade team. She's also handy behind the stumps when needed.

We are excited to welcome Elissa to the Crushers and can't wait to see what the season has in store for her.
