After 25 years in construction, building homes and apartments, I always had a strong interest in real estate. There were so many times I was close to getting licensed and becoming an agent, but I kept hesitating. I thought being a real estate agent was all about selling homes, something I had little to no experience with. Every time I considered diving in, I backed away, unsure if I could succeed as a βhot shotβ real estate agent.
What I didnβt realize at the time was that I was already part of the industry! I already knew about aesthetics, structural integrity, pest control, the cost of building a home, renovations, zoning, height restrictionsβyou name it. I had a solid understanding of what a home was worth, from suburb to suburb. But there was still one issue... I wasnβt a salesperson. How could I stand out against the top agents who had been in the game for years?
Fast forward a few years, and I came across an ad for becoming a "Buyers Agent". Like many, my first thought was, 'Whatβs a Buyers Agent?' The answer blew me awayβa Buyers Agent is a real estate professional who "buys" homes for people instead of selling them. They represent the buyer, not the vendor, unlike selling agents, who work to get the best price for the seller in the current market. A Buyers Agent works to secure the best deal for their client, ensuring they get the property they want without overpaying or missing out.
A Buyers Agent is like a property advocate. Theyβre constantly searching the market, tracking economic changes, studying interest rates, and analyzing trends like population growth. Their goal is to understand the market deeply and identify homes that fit their clients' needs, whether it's a family home or a high-yield investment property.
Thatβs when it clickedβI had the perfect background for this. If I could pair my knowledge of market trends with my construction experience, I could offer my clients insights that other agents might miss. I could spot homes with potential, understand renovation costs, and help people see the value where others might not.
After two years of self-development, ongoing training, and education, Iβm finally here! Ready to make a real impact on helping people buy their dream homes or build a strong investment property portfolio. I have a keen eye for finding properties that may not seem perfect at first but are in great locations, near schools and transport, and under budget.
