Exciting Times at Bay City Conveyancing & Legal!
Well for us anyway. đ
For ten years, Toni & Nick have operated our business exclusively as a Legal Practice. While this brings us many advantages over licenced conveyancing businesses, it does impact on Nick, as all documents under the electronic conveyancing rules now need to be signed by the legal practitioner. Having worked together for over 20 years, the challenge for Nick and Toni was to create a business structure that allowed them to maintain their businesses together and take advantage of each of their skills, qualifications and talents for the future.
Toni, as a Certified Practicing Conveyancer and having both the experience and qualifications to hold a full conveyancing licence, but could not hold a licence as part of the legal practice. We have therefore decided to set up an allied operation alongside the legal practice, so that Toni can hold a conveyancers licence within a separate business unit, while Nick can maintain the legal side of things.
We now have Bay City Legal within which Nick conducts his client conveyancing matters and other legal work outside the scope of a conveyancing business, and Bay City Conveyancing Specialists within which Toni and Geoff conduct their conveyancing focussed matters. This provides us a more robust structure, with back up available from each business to the other under the new structure. Nick will still conduct conveyancing matters as well. The only difference is Nick will conduct his files under the âBay City Legalâ brand, and all other files will be under the âBay City Conveyancingâ brand.
Nick and Toni are each shareholders in each business, and the staff work for each business. The two operations operate from the same address, so from a client perspective, little has changed, and little will.
