When separation first happens, most people do the same thing: they worry about the kids, the house and whether they need to move out straight away. Those first decisions can affect parenting arrangements, property discussions and your stress levels.

In our family law work, we help clients sort through the immediate practical steps before things spiral. That can include understanding parenting responsibilities, documenting arrangements properly, gathering key financial information and getting advice before agreeing to anything informal that may not protect you later.

Who would make decisions for you if you could not make them yourself?

A Will only takes effect after death, so it does not cover decisions made during your lifetime. In NSW, an enduring power of attorney allows a trusted person to manage financial and property matters, such as bank accounts, expenses, investments and property transactions.

An enduring guardian has a different role. They may decide where you live, what health or dental treatment you receive, and which personal services or support you access.

You must be an adult with decision-making capacity when signing. Both documents also require proper witnessing and acceptance by the person appointed.

Plan for life as well as death. Contact Felicio Law Firm on (02) 4365 4249.

From 1 July 2026, anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing reforms are expected to bring new compliance obligations for a broader range of professional service providers, including solicitors, conveyancers, accountants and real estate agents.

For many businesses, this may mean new processes for customer due diligence, record keeping, staff training and reporting suspicious matters.

If your business operates in property, professional services, trusts, company structures or high-value transactions, now is the time to understand what may be required and prepare early.

At Felicio Law Firm, we help individuals, families and businesses across the Central Coast navigate legal obligations with practical, clear advice.

The Australian family law system operates on the core principle that the best interests of the child are always the paramount consideration. This means focusing on the child's right to have a meaningful relationship with both parents while ensuring their safety and physical wellbeing remain protected.

Navigating these arrangements requires a calm and informed approach to mediation and parenting orders. We help parents understand the nuances of shared parental responsibility and how to create workable schedules that minimize conflict and support a stable environment for their children.

If you are currently working through parenting arrangements, our resources offer a roadmap for what to expect during the legal process. Learn more about how the law supports your family transition smoothly.
