The NSW Government's recent funding announcement ignores the urgent need for free legal services for vulnerable women and families in Western NSW.

Neither Western NSW Community Legal Centre (WNSWCLC), nor its specialist DV unit - Western Women's Legal Support - will receive uplift funding through the National Access to Justice Partnership.

The decision comes despite escalating demand and repeated calls for greater investment in regional legal assistance, and more than a year after additional funding for community legal centres was announced. Read more: https://www.wnswclc.org.au/news

Across regional and rural Australia, specialist services are stretched to breaking point. Women are waiting too long for the legal support, advocacy and safety they need.

Join us for an in-person interactive session discussing intersectionality of financial abuse and legal issues.

Presented by the Financial Abuse Service from Redfern Legal Centre in collaboration with Western NSW Community Legal Centre featuring their specialist interdisciplinary service - Western Women's Legal Support, working with victims-survivors of financial abuse from an intimate partner.

Victim-survivors of financial abuse face challenges navigating the multiple systems they’re required to interact with when considering leaving a relationship or after they have left.

The session will focus on highlighting the role of Financial Counsellors in the legal sector, how they work with victim-survivors experiencing financial abuse from an intimate partner and resolving matters of coerced debts and money counselling.

Today we officially finished filming “Discover Dubbo – Real Law in Regional NSW” and we couldn't be more excited!!!

It's been a wonderful opportunity to highlight the people behind the profession and showcase the amazing lifestyle & professional opportunities in regional NSW.
