We’d like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Women's Legal Service NSW for visiting Dubbo this week as part of their 2026 Kombi Road Trip, “Your Knowledge, Her Safety.”

It was an incredible opportunity for local service providers to come together and deepen our understanding of how gender-based violence intersects with emerging issues across family law, domestic, family and sexual violence, discrimination, employment, and broader systemic violence.

Western Women's Legal Support were honoured to be part of the training and to share more about our service, the work we do, and how we support women and children experiencing violence in our community. Opportunities like this strengthen collaboration, build knowledge, and ultimately improve outcomes for those we walk alongside every day.

We sincerely thank Dugald Saunders MP for recognising Western Women’s Legal Support in NSW Parliament and for his strong advocacy for increased funding for frontline domestic and family violence services.

As highlighted in his message for Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month, this is not work that begins and ends in May. Every day, services like ours stand alongside women in our communities, providing critical legal support and safety planning when it matters most.

We echo his call for sustained attention, ongoing investment and a collective commitment to ending violence. Frontline services cannot meet growing demand without adequate, long-term funding.

We are grateful to work alongside so many dedicated organisations and advocates who continue to keep these issues front and centre and we welcome continued leadership to ensure every woman and child can live safely, free from fear and violence.

A huge thank you to the 40+ incredible community workers who joined us today at the Western Plains Cultural Centre for the “Victims Services Training for Community Workers” workshop developed by Community Legal Centres NSW and delivered by Rachael and Tori from Western Women’s Legal Support.

It was fantastic to spend the day with such passionate professionals from all over Western NSW, committed to supporting victim-survivors of domestic, family and sexual violence across our communities.

Today’s workshop focused on building knowledge and confidence around the NSW Victims Support Scheme, including understanding eligibility, completing applications accurately, providing supporting evidence, and navigating the application and review process.

We are grateful for the opportunity to share this training and collaborate with so many dedicated workers who make such an important difference every day.

Thank you again to everyone who attended and contributed to such a valuable and engaging day.
