That means showing evidence of how you live your lives together, how you share finances, how you stay in contact, what your future plans look like, and how friends and family know about your relationship.

For some couples, that could include joint bills, shared travel, lease agreements, messages, photos, or statements from family and friends.

Every relationship is different, which means there is no single document that guarantees approval.

Appealing your visa refusal isn't a simple decision, there are real trade-offs you need to understand before you commit.

The pros:
You can usually stay in Australia while your appeal is processed
it's next to impossible to fight this from offshore
the process gives you time to properly present evidence you may not have had the first time.

For student visa holders, it can even allow you to complete the course you were enrolled in — which actually strengthens your case by demonstrating you were a genuine student.

The cons:
You're in limbo for potentially 5–7 years or longer.
You may not have work rights on your bridging visa.
You likely won't have travel rights either.
