Employer Not Paying Superannuation

Your boss might owe you thousands in super and you don’t even know it. If your employer isn’t paying your superannuation, that’s a serious issue in Australia. Employers are legally required to pay super contributions on top of your wages under federal law. If those payments aren’t made, the employer can be liable to pay the unpaid super, interest, and additional charges. Employees can report unpaid super to the ATO, and the ATO has significant powers. If you think your super hasn’t been paid or paid correctly, it’s worth checking your super fund statements and seeking advice early.

Is it Illegal to Use Someone Else’s Netflix Account?

Accessing an account without authorisation can potentially fall into serious legal territory, especially if you’re bypassing security or using saved passwords without consent. At the very least, it’s likely a breach of the platform’s terms. At worst, unauthorised access to online accounts can raise criminal law issues. Just because it’s “only Netflix” doesn’t mean it’s harmless. If it’s not your account — and you don’t have permission — don’t use it.

Found Money in Your Bank Account

Imagine you wake up and there’s $5,000 in your account. No explanation. Jackpot? Not quite. If someone transfers to you money by mistake, you generally don’t get to keep it. Spending it can land you in serious legal trouble. Banks can reverse transactions, and the sender can take action to recover the money. If it’s not yours — don’t touch it. Notify your bank immediately.

No Contract, No Case?

Just because there’s no written documentation, doesn’t mean there is no case. Verbal agreements can hold up in a Court if there’s offer, acceptance and consideration. The Court may also look into SMS texts, emails or recordings between parties.

Inconsistencies, among other things, for example, could cause you damage. Other examples, among others, include posting on social media during a lawsuit, waiting too long (statute of limitations), talking to the other party without a lawyer, ignoring a court application or Summons or Statement of Claim, signing something “just to get it over with”.

As Prominent Lawyers continues to humbly support the charitable and hard work undertaken by Let’s Get Going Limited, Prominent Lawyers is proud to announce an expanded relationship to include West Harbour Rugby. Let’s Get Going Limited is a registered charity that promotes and assists in the health and wellbeing of adults with an intellectual and/or physical disability, Mr Anthony Bazouni said “I have witnessed the difference they make to peoples and families lives.”.

West Harbour Rugby has a rich 125 year history as a professional Australian rugby union club, being one of the oldest in Australia. West Harbour Rugby is known for competing in the Shute Shield, the premier New South Wales club competition. Psychiatric/Psychological Injuries

If you are psychiatrically/psychologically injured at/from work, you will receive permanent impairment compensation if those injuries are primary not secondary injuries. The NSW government has recently implemented changes to the law, where the whole person impairment threshold for those injuries will increase from 15%.

Exercise Option to Renew Lease

Always stay vigilant when your lease is ending. Especially regarding your option to renew. At times commercial leases include an option clause — which means you may have the right to extend your lease but it’s not automatic. You usually have to give written notice within a strict time frame, sometimes 3 to 6 months before expiry. You usually can’t be in breach of your lease when you exercise the option. Check your lease and diarise the first and last dates of your option window.
