We are offering a career defining opportunity for a Junior Criminal Defence Lawyer to join us on a permanent full-time basis.
Your duties will include:
Regular Court attendance for adjournments, bail applications, pleas, hearings and trials;
Client meetings/interviews as directed and assisting with providing legal advice;
File management with supervision;
Instructing Counsel where required in the management of criminal cases;
Contacting clients and obtaining instructions;
Reviewing and preparing briefs of cases;
Undertaking research for case preparation; and
Liaising with other stakeholders including prosecution, other legal representatives, correctional centre staff and court staff.
As the successful applicant, you will have:
< 1 year post-admission experience;
Hold a current driver's licence and own vehicle;
A current Queensland Practising Certificate is advantageous;
Experience with Leap Legal Software and Legal Aid Queensland is advantageous;
Ability to produce high quality work under strict time frames;
Excellent communication skills, both written and interpersonal;
A high level of resilience and emotional intelligence; and
Ability to meet monthly budgets and goals.
The remuneration package from $60,000 to $75,000 per annum (depending on the candidate’s experience) is available.
