I'm a wife and a mum, and now a founder!

I founded Bloom Law as I knew l had this place within that I was trying to quieten, but that wouldn't be quientened any more... a place that's truly me a place to live my mission...

I believe that me, my loved ones and my clients have a right to reach for their awesome life, and Bloom.

Over the years, l've worked in national and boutique firms, helping parents, partners, and children find pathways forward with care.

l've also completed my Master of Laws, where my research explored the 'cost of love', for women following separation and divorce.

I will never stop learning. And I hope I never stop loving this work as much as I do now.

Hello, I’m Kiarah Grace Kelly.
I’m an award-winning family lawyer, having practised on the Northside of Brisbane since 2018. I’ve honed my skills in both market-leading boutique firms and respected national practices. I hold a Masters of Applied Family Law. I have helped hundreds of families find their new normal following separation and divorce, working with families of all shapes and sizes, bearing witness to their varied stories.

In 2024, my son arrived. Amid the exhaustion-stained wonder, I knew. I knew I had something in me that I was trying to quieten but wouldn’t be quietened anymore. Bloom Law was born from my core belief that my clients, my loved ones, and I have a right to an awesome life.

Proudly, on Friday night I won a spot in the Lawyers Weekly 30 Under 30 Awards, winning my category of Family Law.

My application surrounded my work in-
- learning to lead with humanity and curiosity, very much alongside my team, in my role as Practice Leader at Brisbane Family Law Centre;
- my passion to improve the financial futures of women following separation and divorce through best practice, research and education;
- always saying yes and putting my hat in the ring to learn something new and extend myself in my career progression. But, I'm learning how to do this sustainably.
My application was helped along by the support of my colleagues, I am so grateful that these special few consistently show up in my cheer squad.

I am most proud that these traits are those that are valued by our profession.

These moments cause us to reflect, and I have a few things to share-
- there's not only a place, but a need, for people in the law with diverse stories and 'imperfect' paths behind them. Cutting yourself off from your story or squeezing yourself into someone your not in order to fit in will cause you pain, and does a disservice to the people the law is here to help;
- there are plenty of ways I've been helped along my way and plenty of people who continue to show up for me;
- I am made to be better because of my team at Brisbane Family Law Centre, you just can't show up as anything other than your best self when you have the amazing women of BFLC doing all they do, everyday;
- Clarissa (Happy Lawyer Happy Life) has long been clearing the path for me, she lays a new piece of that path every day and I will benefit for it for the rest of my career;
- my Husband, Alex travelled to Sydney with me and we had such a wonderful, fun time. A life in the law takes away some of your fun sometimes, and our loved ones must feel that;
- I am supported immensely by Alex, it's been just me and him for many years now, since we were in high school. Alex is the kind of guy who, when I come home with some crazy and certainly cumbersome idea, he's already let out a sigh and has started making things happen for me, by the time I've finished by sentence.

Us family lawyers are a proud bunch, I have found for the most part that family lawyers take seriously the opportunity for real, impactful good in our work. Family law is a happy mix of so many of the things that Millenial and Gen Z are looking for at work.

Sometimes, it feels like all we hear in the media, in pop-culture, really everywhere we go is that there is more and more (and more) that we could be doing and that there’s always new ways to ensure we are doing it. After a year or so of chasing that very thing, I’ve had to pause and ponder exactly whether my obsession (one which I think is shared by many) is completely healthy and right for me.

I’ve gathered my thoughts on the topic of the tricky pursuit of peak productivity and how we can stay in control of it-
