Separated? Your Will should be on the checklist.
When a relationship ends, there is a lot to think about — property, parenting, finances and the practical arrangements for moving forward.
But there is another important question:
Does your Will still reflect what you want?
Separation, divorce, remarriage and changes to your family can all be reasons to review your estate planning.
And it’s not just your Will. Your superannuation, life insurance, powers of attorney and asset ownership may also need to be considered.
Family law and wills & estates often intersect at major life changes.
If your circumstances have changed, don’t assume your existing documents still reflect your wishes.
It may be time for a review.
