AI is reshaping professional services fast. The firms that handle it well will not just have better tools. They will have better leaders.

Caloundra's Mel Kettle is running a free online briefing this Wednesday (10 June, 11am AEST) on exactly that: clarity, communication, trust, and sustainable performance in an AI-driven world.

Free. Online. Replay available. Worth an hour and a half.

EOFY is when a lot of business sale conversations go from "we have been thinking about it" to "let's do this."

The excitement of a deal is real. It is also one of the more reliable ways to miss something in the Contract. We work with Buyers and Sellers on Sunshine Coast business transactions. If something is in motion, or about to be, earlier is a better time to call than later.

A correction to a recent post.

Tammy and Sammy are back at the firm. Their time away was brief, and they were missed by the team and by our clients in equal measure. We meant every word of the farewell at the time. None of that changes now that they are back at their desks.

Welcome back, both of you. The desks were not even cold. And yes, you can keep your farewell gifts.

Closed today for the Maleny and Caloundra Show Holiday. Back Monday 01/06/2026. Leave a message and we will get to it first thing.

For everyone heading to the showgrounds: dagwood dogs, Ferris wheel, the works.

Enjoy the long weekend.

Queensland Small Business Month is in its last week.

The state government's Digital Engagement Program has a free video series called Breaking Barriers. Short clips, around three minutes each, on the things that actually come up: understanding your lease before you sign, using AI without losing control of your data, planning the next 12 months, and getting your business noticed beyond word of mouth.

Worth 20 minutes if you are running a business on the Sunshine Coast or anywhere in Queensland. There is also one-on-one access to Small Business Assistance Officers, and regional webinars throughout the month.

Find it on the Business Queensland website.

Queensland Small Business Month question worth sitting with: when did you last look at your business paperwork?

Not the tax stuff β€” the foundational documents. The Shareholders' Agreement. The contractor terms. The Company Constitution. The IP assignment. The conditions of trade.

Most small businesses have some of these. Not all of them have all of them. And some have documents that were set up years ago and no longer reflect how the business actually works.

That gap is usually fine. Until it isn't.

We work with a lot of Sunshine Coast businesses who come to us after something has gone sideways. A contractor dispute with no written scope. A partnership breakup with no exit clause. A lot of the time, a clear document from the start would have changed the outcome.

If you want a straightforward conversation about where your documents stand, call us on 07 5390 1400.

Coffee in Caloundra is back. This time it is inside a hangar. ✈️

Look, the Chamber newsletter also has this. But the Chamber newsletter does not mention that you will be drinking coffee next to historic aircraft at 7:30am on a Thursday, which feels like relevant information.

Running a business is demanding enough without having to think about whether your legal paperwork has kept pace.

But May is as good a time as any for a quick check. Is your Company Constitution still current? Does your Shareholders' Agreement reflect how the business actually works today? Has anything changed that your solicitor should know about?

If the answer is "I'm not sure," that's usually worth a conversation.

We've been helping Sunshine Coast businesses get their structures right since 1974. Happy to have a chat.
