We are excited to give you a heads up of a new feature we are about to launch here at Clear Lawyers. We are soon to launch the client portal, giving clients access to their files, documents, make and cancel appointments and to contact us. The portal also uses Law Connect which allows clients to view the important documents we share with them, securely and quickly. Stay tuned and we will let you know, when we go 'live'.

After a good week seeing the sights of Newcastle Court, we made our way to Canberra to visit the Qatar embassy in preparation for an interesting case in Qatar.

And I could not resist the opportunity of dropping in to the High Court to observe the case of Paciocco v ANZ which is the latest chapter in the law of penalties. A full gallery of lawyers and students from around Australia and New Zealand watches on as Counsel and the Court debate those pesky bank penalty (or are they?) fees. While the outcome will lead first to the re-drawing of each bank's terms and conditions, it will also clarify the position of "penalties" in all contracts, from the $30 to $millions contractual default fees and everything in between. Stay tuned.

It's been a strong start to the year at Clear Lawyers. Great to see our clients buying up properties to keep the market kicking along. Today we find ourselves in Perth Western Australia for a case before the Supreme Court and next week we are heading to Newcastle for an interesting case.
