There are moments in life that make you stop, reflect, and realise just how far you’ve come.

Today is one of those moments.

I am incredibly humbled and honoured to share that Tajik Lawyers has been named a Finalist in the Legal Services category for the 2026 Australian Women’s Small Business Champion Awards.

As a sole practitioner, company director, woman, and single mum, this recognition is deeply personal. I started this firm when I had 2 babies under 2 and completing my Masters.

There have been moments of self-doubt, long days, late nights, and countless sacrifices to build a law firm that reflects my values—one founded on compassion, integrity, and a genuine commitment to helping families through some of the most challenging times in their lives.

Every family that walks through my door is experiencing one of the most difficult chapters of their life. It is a privilege to stand beside them, guide them through the family law system, and help them find a path forward with dignity, hope and confidence.

Being recognised as a finalist is not simply an award for a business—it is recognition of a purpose that has guided me throughout my career.

I am profoundly grateful to every client who has placed their trust in me. Thank you for allowing me to be part of your journey and for trusting me with matters that are often deeply personal and life-changing.

To our community, thank you for embracing and supporting Tajik Lawyers. Your referrals, kind words, and continued trust have allowed my practice to grow, and I will never take that support for granted.

This recognition belongs to every person who has been part of this journey.

No matter what happens on awards night, I already feel incredibly proud and grateful.

For some, this time of year can include mixed emotions. There are feelings of joy and festivity, however for many of our clients, there can also be feelings of uncertainty.

These feelings are valid. Transitions are hard. Just remember that these times are often trying, yet they are also temporary. With patience and the right support, you will no doubt find true serenity.

Reflect and be kind to yourself for coming so far. As family lawyers, we see firsthand the impact of separation on individuals and their children, but we have also seen the joys of life created through new chapters post-separation.

As family lawyers, we are frequently asked by parents the question of whether their child can choose which parent they want to live with. Sometimes, our clients express that their children have told them they want to live with them instead of the other parent.

The child's views may be given weight depending on their age and maturity, however, it is important to remember that the child's best interests are the paramount consideration - not their views.
