Leave now.

If you are in the below countries, the advice is to leave now. 👇👇

As a law firm that has assisted Australians and their families to evacuate from conflict zones, we have first hand experience in emergency situations/with DFAT consular support.

It can be VERY difficult for Australia to get you out if a country closes its borders and imposes strict rules. Even with Australian consular assistance, it may take a long time for you to be evacuated.

When countries enter wars or conflicts with another country, the priority is their security and defence NOT when you are going to take a plane out.

Do not travel:
Lebanon, Israel, Kuwait, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Yemen
Reconsider your need to travel:
Jordan

In December, we lodged a Partner Visa for our client who had been forced to leave their family in Australia and go overseas.

We were able to get their permanent visa granted in 11 days allowing them to come back in. ☺️☺️

Umm, AMAZING! 🥳🎊

☆ Despite this success, this is the EXCEPTION not the rule. There may be particular aspects of their case that may have made this easier to be approved.

Alhamdullilah this was a great outcome for our client.

Immigration Lawyer Holiday Advice ✈️

We’re seeing a growing number of people involved in accidents overseas—particularly in Bali and Thailand —who are then placed under immense stress trying to raise funds for medical treatment and emergency evacuation back to Australia.

❗ Travel insurance is essential for all international travel.

You should always have travel insurance to cover medical expenses, accidents, and emergency evacuations—even when travelling to countries that have a reciprocal health care agreement with Australia.

🇦🇺 Coming to Australia

■ Obtain travel insurance to cover medical expenses. Medical treatment in Australia can be extremely costly without private health insurance.

■ If you have sponsored someone on a Sponsored Visitor Visa, be aware that as the sponsor, you may be held liable for any unpaid government debts incurred by the visa holder.

🛩 Travelling Outside Australia

■ Ensure you have comprehensive travel insurance covering medical treatment, accidents, and medical evacuation (Medevac).

■ Medevac refers to the urgent medical evacuation of a person from overseas back to Australia and can be extremely expensive without insurance.

🏥🛩 Why this matters—even for New Zealand and other countries where Australia has a Recipocral Health Agreement in place

The Reciprocal health agreement we have with other countries does not cover you for medical evacuations, if required. These can cost you thousands of dollars.

It is not worth it.

❗️❗️ Please note - your travel insurance may not cover you if your country or location is clearly in a DO NOT TRAVEL zone and you decide to travel there.

New laws are in place.
■It is illegal to display flags such as Hamas and Hezbollah flags.
■Firearms license will NOT be granted to anyone who is not an Australian citizen, except for NZ citizens in some circumstances.

Please share with your networks and inform yourselves of the new laws.

In terms of immigration, please note that any anti-semitic/Islamaphobic behaviour or acts that might cause problems in the Australian community would be considered a red flag and could have the potential of having your visa considered for cancellation. These are not new laws.

The current provisions under the Migration Act could mean that you have a visa refusal or cancellation if it looks like you are going to cause problems in Australia.

Lebanon update

⚠️ Don't get scammed.

⚠️ Lebanese shouldn't be lodging refugee applications from Lebanon. This is known as the "Humanitarian visa".

❌️ Don't apply for a humanitarian visa.
