Many Clients believe that the Partner Visa process only consists of creating an account, filling out Forms and lodging the application.

In reality, the process includes many important steps:

The film revolves around Sasha – an adventurous mountain climber and kayaker trying to overcome the grief after the death of her companion Tommy.

To find balance again, Sasha decides to undertake a solitary kayak trip amidst the remote Australian wilderness, crossing canyons, cliffs and forests almost completely isolated from the outside world.

But the trip quickly turns into a nightmare when she encounters Ben – a killer disguised as a park ranger. He turns the wilderness into a brutal “human hunting game,” forcing Sasha to use all her survival skills to fight and protect her life.

APEX does not follow the style of continuous fast-paced action movies.

The attraction of the film lies in the sense of psychological pressure, isolation and fear amidst the vast nature of Australia.
The more you watch, the more you find the nature depicted in the film both beautiful and terrifying.

JL - WHY ARE SOME VISAS GRANTED IN JUST A FEW MONTHS
WHILE OTHERS TAKE 2-3 YEARS TO GET THEM PROCESSED?

Previously, the processing time for Partner Visas usually ranged from 6–12 months. However, by 2026, the average time has extended to approximately 16–24 months. This is a figure that causes a lot of pressure for many Clients.

Whether an application is granted quickly or slowly depends on many factors.

Australia's 2026-2027 Federal Budget has just been released, bringing "shocking" changes. According to the Migration Institute of Australia (MIA), these are the hotspots you cannot ignore:

𝟭. 𝗕𝗶𝗴 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗻 𝗡𝗲𝘁 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀 𝗠𝗶𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻!
The Australian Government forecasts a sharp reduction in Net Overseas Migration to 245.000 people in 2026-27 and a further decrease to 225.000 in 2027-28. This is the result of a series of temporary Migration control measures such as increasing Visa fees, raising salary thresholds, expanding the WHM ballot and strengthening supervision of Student Visas.

𝟮. 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 - 𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝟭𝟴𝟱,𝟬𝟬𝟬 𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲𝘀
The total number of places and structures are nearly the same as last year. More than 70% (132,240 places) are for the Skill stream. Notably, 129,590 places prioritize people currently living in Australia (onshore) and 55,110 places are for those submitting an application from abroad (offshore).

𝟯. 𝗢𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺
The Points Test system for Permanent Residency Migration will be optimized to select younger Immigrants with higher education and skill levels, aiming to drive Australia's long-term productivity and prosperity. However, specific details about these changes have not been announced.

𝟰. 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁:
The Government will invest $85.2 million to modernize the system and speed up skills assessments for immigrant skilled workers, with the goal of helping an additional 4,000 skilled workers join the workforce each year.

𝟱. 𝗧𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗱𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗮 (𝗦𝘂𝗯𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝟰𝟴𝟱) - 𝟭𝟬𝟬% 𝗳𝗲𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲
The Temporary Graduate Visa fee has increased by 100% since 1/3/2026, except for people from the Pacific Islands and Timor-Leste. This measure is expected to increase budget revenue by $1.2 billion over 5 years.

𝟲. 𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗿-𝗦𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗼𝗿𝗲𝗱 𝘀𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝟭/𝟳/𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲
Core Skills Income Threshold increases to $79,499. Specialist Skills Income Threshold increases to $146,717. TSMIT for the regional 494 Visa remains at $76,515.

𝟳. 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗠𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿 (𝗪𝗛𝗠) - 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘁
The WHM program will be reformed towards expanding the use of ballots to control quantities, distribute Visas more fairly, and reduce barriers to working.

𝟴. 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗩𝗶𝘀𝗮
The Department of Home Affairs receives an additional $19.8 million over 4 years to strengthen supervision of Student Visa applications both onshore and offshore.

𝟵. 𝗣𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲 - 𝗜𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗳𝗲𝗲
From 1/1/2027, the departure fee increases by 10 AUD to 80 AUD/person, applicable to all passengers leaving Australia by air or sea (except for exempt cases).

𝟭𝟬. 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝘂𝗴𝗲𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 — $𝟴𝟯𝟮.𝟮 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻
The budget for Refugee, Humanitarian and Settlement for 2026–27 is $832.2 million, a slight decrease from $862.2 million last year. The Community Refugee Integration and Settlement Pilot program (CRISP) is maintained with $3.5 million over 3 years and $1.2 million/year thereafter.

𝟭𝟭. 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝗶𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆
The Department of Home Affairs receives $207.4 million over 5 years for the The Department of Home Affairs to combat anti-Semitism, extremism, and hatred including adding new Legal grounds to refuse or cancel Visas and strengthening character checks under the Migration Act 1958.

Recently, JL Migration & Education supported a Partner Visa Refusal case. When sharing her story, the Client said she had previously decided to apply for her application by herself because she thought she was capable of handling it.

She had a fairly good English background, had previously handled some procedures with Government Authorities herself, and especially had a Friend who had successfully self-applied for a Partner Visa. This Friend was willing to share experiences and guide her through the process, so she believed she could proactively do it and save on service fees.

However, a Partner Visa is not just about filling out Forms and lodging enough documents. The application needs to be prepared according to the correct Legal Criteria, with evidence presented strategically and clearly showing the four Finance, Household, Commitment, and Social aspects. In addition, each application has a different level of complexity and requires different Legal Submissions. Just one minor omission or an unconvincing presentation can lead to great risk.

The initial “save costs” decision made her trade away her Australian Migration opportunity during that time, while also incurring additional costs for the Appeal process at the Tribunal, prolonging the waiting time and creating significant psychological pressure for the whole Family.

Self-applying for an application is not a wrong choice. But each application has its own level of complexity, and the important thing is whether you have a suitable strategy and a firm grasp of Legal knowledge.

Are you wishing to sponsor your Partner but worried because the Applicant is in Australia without a valid Visa?
