SPLIT APART: In family law property settlements, there is no automatic presumption of a 50/50 split of assets and liabilities. Instead, the assets and liabilities you are allocated will depend on specific factors including: the contributions that you made during the relationship (to include: financial, non-financial, care of your children and home).

An assessment of your future needs is also taken into account to include factors such as your age, health, earning capacity and whether you have the ongoing care of any dependents (such as your children) into the future.
