This isn't a rare story. It happens more than you'd think... and it's one of the most costly mistakes in a property settlement.

Superannuation feels different to other assets. People think because they have earnt it through their employment it is theirs alone, locked away somewhere in the future. So it gets treated as an afterthought or often clients want it left out entirely.

But under Australian family law, super is property. It sits in the asset pool alongside the house, the car, and the savings account. And it can be divided.

What you need to know:
→ You are entitled to know your partner's super balance and the contributions made during your negotiations
→ Super cannot be split informally, it requires a specific legal process
→ An agreement that doesn't address super is an incomplete agreement
→ If one party has a greater superannuation balance because the other person has taken years off work to care for the children thats considered.

The number on that statement is real money. Future money. Retirement money for both parties. Don't leave it behind.

Parenting orders aren’t just for high-conflict separations. They are for every family that wants clarity, consistency, and protection, especially for the children.

Parenting orders can cover:
→ Where children live and how time is shared
→ Schooling, medical and travel decisions
