Depending on the busy life style and the amount of tourist who visits Australia has create the demand for well-trained and qualified chefs. Commercial Cookery course is perfect for those seeking for a career as a chef and looking for a permanent solution for there temporary immigration status to permanent status.
Requirement to study Commercial Cookery are:
5.5 overall in IELTS or equivalent with no band less than 5.
and minimum of Year 11 schooling or equivalent completed
The structure for Commercial Cookery course is:
one year course of Cert III in Commercial Cookery which offers both theory and practical training. At the finish of it, all students has to undertake a mandatory workplace training of 10 weeks in a suitable hospitality premises such as restaurants, hotels, cafes, coffee shops etc. as a trainee chef.
You will be eligible to become a qualified cook after completion of certificate iii.
After completion of certificate iii students can move into Cert IV in Commercial Cookery. certificate iv is a 6 months course this will make students eligible for skills assessment for the occupation of cook.
students will need 360 hours of work experience during the one and half year of certificate iii and iv. many colleges have it included in the course or else have to find another ways.some colleges offer one and half years of certificate iv instead of certificate iii.
Diploma of Hospitality Management (Commercial Cookery Pathway): to complete 2 yrs study requirements student can do a 6 months diploma of hospitality management this will enable to get you skills in budgeting, customer service, financial management etc . on completion of this course students are eligible to become restaurant manager, kitchen manager etc.
Migration pathway for Commercial Cookery :
STEP 1 – Provisional Skills Assessment (PSA)
Candidates can get 485 visa graduate stream after completion of the above 2 yrs course but need provisional skills assessment (PSA) from TRA. in order to get 485 visa.
Eligibility Criteria:
--Valid Student Visa.
-- CRICOS registered qualification that is relevant to the occupation assessed by TRA.
-- Proof of relevant paid employment or work placement of minimum 360 hours relating to your qualification and nominated occupation The experience/placement must be within 3 years before the submission of PSA application Apply for Graduate Temporary (subclass 485) Visa.
STEP 2: Job Ready Program (JRP).
After getting 485 visa candidates should aim to get full skills assessment through job ready program (JRP). This program will enable you to gain experience in an Australian workplace.
STEP 3: JOB READY EMPLOYMENT (JRE)
For one year candidates must have paid employment of at least 1725 hours from the start date of your Job Ready Employment in an Australian workplace which is TRA approved. you have to keep the record of duties and task you do in this period maintained in a journal.
STEP 4: JOB READY WORK ASSESSMENT (JRWA)
TRA will do an assessment at your workplace . The assessment will focus on the activities you have been required to perform during the period of your employment as recorded in your Job Ready Journal.
after the assessment is done you will be given with an outcome of the assessment by TRA.
STEP 5: JOB READY FINAL ASSESSMENT (JRFA)
After the successful PSA and JRWA outcome you will become qualified to apply for JRFA. This is the final step of the JRP. You need to submit an evidence of 1725 hours of paid employment in the period of 12 months in the occupation you chose. Along with that you must provide the 12 months of Job Ready Journals signed by your nominated supervisor and approved by TRA. After this you will receive Full Skill Assessment from TRA.
