UNCITRAL turns 60🎉

In 2026, UNCITRAL marks six decades of work dedicated to the unification, harmonization and modernization of international trade law. The UNCITRAL@60 anniversary celebrations will run from July 2026 to July 2027, featuring a series of activities reflecting on UNCITRAL’s achievements, acknowledging the role of Member States and stakeholders, looking ahead to new challenges in the evolving landscape of international trade.

We are pleased to announce that the next event from the UNCITRAL Days series will take place on 20 April 2026 at the University of National and World Economy (UNWE) in Sofia.

The programme will open with welcome remarks by Prof. Dr. Dimitar Dimitrov, Rector of UNWE, followed by discussions bringing together students, academics, and practitioners on:

📢 UNCITRAL Working Group III (ISDS Reform) is in session this week (24–27 March 2026), holding its fifty‑fourth session at the Vienna International Centre.

The Working Group is continuing deliberations on the topic of standing mechanisms for the resolution of international investment disputes, including consideration of the draft statute of a permanent tribunal (A/CN.9/WG.III/WP.259) and the draft statute of a permanent appellate tribunal (A/CN.9/WG.III/WP.260).

Nous avons le plaisir d’annoncer la publication du rapport de la quatrième édition des Journées de la CNUDCI en Afrique, qui a réuni des universités et partenaires à travers le continent afin de promouvoir la sensibilisation, l’étude et le dialogue autour des textes de la CNUDCI et de leur rôle dans la digitalisation du commerce, le règlement des différends, les sûretés et la modernisation du droit commercial.

Forts de cette dynamique, nous lançons la cinquième édition des Journées de la CNUDCI en Afrique, qui se tiendra en 2026 sous le thème :

👉 « Le rôle de la CNUDCI dans la modernisation et l’harmonisation du droit du commerce international ». Cette série d'évènements sera l'occasion de célébrer le soixantième anniversaire de la création de la CNUDCI.

📣 Appel aux universités et institutions académiques africaines

Les universités et institutions intéressées sont invitées à participer à l’édition 2026 en organisant un événement académique — conférence, atelier, cours, table ronde, séminaire ou webinaire — consacré aux travaux de la CNUDCI. La participation est gratuite et les événements peuvent être organisés en présentiel, en ligne ou en format hybride.
