USCIS Extends Employment Authorization Documents under Temporary Protected Status Designations of El Salvador, Honduras, Nepal, Nicaragua and Sudan

USCIS is extending the validity of certain Employment Authorization Documents (EADs) issued to Temporary Protected Status (TPS) beneficiaries under the designations of El Salvador, Honduras, Nepal, Nicaragua, and Sudan through March 9, 2025. We will mail eligible TPS beneficiaries under these designations a Form I-797, Notice of Action, notifying them of the extension.

If you are an existing TPS beneficiary under one of these designations, and you have not yet re-registered for TPS under the most recent extension for that designation, you must submit Form I-821, Application for Temporary Protected Status, during the current re-registration period to keep your TPS benefits. If you do not re-register properly within the re-registration period, USCIS may withdraw your TPS and related benefits. DHS previously extended the re-registration periods for individuals to submit TPS applications:

El Salvador now runs through March 9, 2025;
Honduras now runs through July 5, 2025;
Nepal now runs through June 24, 2025;
Nicaragua now runs through July 5, 2025; and
Sudan now runs through April 19, 2025.
Please note that while the re-registration periods end on different dates, EADs are all extended through the same date: March 9, 2025.

USCIS is extending the validity of Permanent Resident Cards (also known as Green Cards) for petitioners who properly file Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence, or Form I-829, Petition by Investor to Remove Conditions on Permanent Resident Status for 48 months beyond the card’s expiration date. This change started on January 11, 2023, for Form I-829 and will start on January 25, 2023, for Form I-751.
This change is to accommodate current processing times for Form I-751 and Form I-829, which have increased over the past year.
USCIS has updated the language on Form I-751 and Form I-829 receipt notices to extend the validity of a Green Card for 48 months for individuals with a newly filed Form I-751 or Form I-829. They will issue new receipt notices to eligible conditional permanent residents who previously received notices with an extension shorter than 48 months and whose cases are still pending. These receipt notices can be presented with an expired Green Card as evidence of continued status, while the case remains pending with USCIS. By presenting your updated receipt notice with your expired Green Card, you remain authorized to work and travel for 48 months from the expiration date on the front of your expired Green Card.

CHANGES TO VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS

Effective October 1, 2021, the Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention (CDC) Technical Instructions for panel
physicians will require all immigrant visa
applicants, all K fiancé(e) visa applicants, and
nonimmigrant visa applicants who are referred to the panel
physicians to receive a full COVID-19 vaccine series as part
of their medical exam prior to being issued a visa. The CDC
requires the COVID-19 vaccine to be approved through
either the World Health Organization (WHO) or the U.S.
Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Blanket waivers for the COVID vaccination will be applied in
countries where the vaccine is not routinely
available or when the vaccine is not age appropriate. The
Department of State encourages all immigrant visa
applicants and others subject to a medical exam to get
vaccinated against COVID-19 as soon as
possible to not experience delays in their visa processing.
