SURIGAO CITY, Surigao del Norte โ Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Vince Dizon visited and inspected the new Jubang Cruise Port in Dapa town in the island of Siargao, Surigao del Norte on March 23.
The Jubang Cruise Port, worth P620.637 million, is the first dedicated terminal for cruise ships in the Philippines. It was established in response to the steady increase in tourism throughout the country, particularly on the island of Siargao which continues to be visited by foreign tourists and travelers.
Dizon said, โIf all goes well, the cruise port will open within this year. Once operational, it will welcome large passenger cruise ships from different countries, ushering in a new wave of international tourism to Siargao Island.โ
For the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) Surigao, the Jubang Cruise Port will boost cruise tourism and attract high-spending tourists to visit Siargao Islands as world-renowned for its surfing escapades, pristine beaches, among others.
