Dubai model seeks Dh6 million compensation from developer for misuse of photo....

A Dubai-based model has asked for Dh6 million compensation from a property developer for misusing his picture in ads to sell properties owned by the developer.

“The agreement was to use one picture for one year in the marketing of a new property project. My picture was used in the project’s booklet. But they used the picture for three years on billboards in Dubai,”

According to the Dubai Courts, the model had signed a contract with the developer to use his picture for one year for the marketing of a new property project. He later discovered that the developer had used his picture on billboards across the emirate for three years.

How can I enforce a travel ban against a person who owes me money?
The creditor has the right to ban the debtor from travelling if the debt amount is more than Dh10,000 and the court may issue a travel ban order upon fulfilment of certain conditions, such as the existence of a reasonable fear that the debtor may run away without repaying the debt. The burden to prove that the conditions for a travel ban issuance are satisfied lies on the creditor.

UAE Law !...

It’s illegal for individuals to lend money on interest; stringent fines, imprisonment will be applied.

In the UAE, it is illegal for an individual to lend money on interest. Only licensed banks and financial institutions in the UAE are allowed to lend money on interest in accordance with the regulations determined by the regulators in the UAE.

UAE law: What happens if an expat dies outside the UAE without a will?

In the UAE, if an individual dies, the bank account of the deceased will be frozen by the concerned bank in the UAE once it has knowledge of his or her demise. Thereafter, a family member who is supposed to be one of the legal heirs of the deceased need to obtain a succession certificate of the deceased from the Personal Status Court (the ‘Court’) in the respective emirate of UAE where the deceased is domiciled.

8 Instances where employee’s salary can be deducted

No amount may be deducted from the worker’s wage except in the following eight cases:

1) To redeem loans granted to the worker within the maximum 50 per cent limit of the monthly deduction percentage from the worker’s wage, after obtaining the worker’s written consent and without applying any interest.

2) To redeem the amounts paid to the worker in addition to entitlements, provided that the amount deducted does not exceed 20 per cent of the wage.

3) The amounts deducted for the workers’ contributions in bonuses, retirement pensions and insurances.

4) The worker’s contributions to the savings fund of the establishment or the loans payable to the fund approved by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratization

Special inheritance court announced that cases and requests to be handled quickly within a specific time frame. His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum has launched a special inheritance court within Dubai Courts dedicated to handling inheritance cases. The establishment of the specialised inheritance court is aligned with Dubai’s constant efforts to enhance the judicial system in Dubai Courts and streamline the litigation process.

الرجوع طريق طعن جديد على الأحكام الباتة في قانون الإجراءات المدنية الاتحادي
جاء المرسوم بقانون اتحادي رقم 15 لسنة 2021 بطريق طعن غير عادي وجديد كلياً هو الرجوع عن الأحكام الباتة، حيث وضع المقنن الإماراتي طريقاً استثنائياً في المادة الجديدة كلياً (187 مكرراً) من قانون الإجراءات المدنية الاتحادي، أباح فيها طلب الرجوع عن الأحكام الباتة لثلاثة حالات محددة على سبيل الحصر وبإجراءات محددة تفصيلاً. في هذا المقال تجدون شرحاً تفصيلياً لإجرءات تقديم طلب الرجوع وشروطه، مع تفسير نص المادة 187 مكرر من قانون الإجراءات المدنية بشكل ميسر ومبسط.

UAE Law "Jail time, Dh2,000 fine for eating in public during Ramadan"
Dubai - UAE penal code does not differentiate between Muslims and non-Muslims. Article 313 of the penal code says: "A person who eats or drinks in public during Ramadan, or encourages the act of consuming in public can face up to one month in prison or up to Dh2,000 fine."
