MMJS Consulting was represented by Vanita Nagpal, Associate Director – Indirect Tax, and Tarun Grover, Senior Director, at the E-Invoicing Compliance & Tax Technology Summit.

Vanita joined the panel “Trailblazing Women in Tax Tech: Leadership, Innovation and Impact,” contributing to a discussion on the role of women leaders in advancing innovation, accelerating the adoption of tax technology and shaping the future of the profession.

Tarun participated in the panel “Tax Compliance Violations: Prevention and Mitigation Strategies,” sharing perspectives on identifying compliance risks early, strengthening internal controls and implementing preventive measures to manage potential violations.

As tax administration becomes increasingly digital and enforcement more data-led, businesses must look beyond procedural compliance and focus on building robust governance, technology and risk-management frameworks.

Their participation reflects MMJS Consulting’s commitment to contributing technical expertise and practical perspectives to the conversations shaping the region’s evolving tax and technology landscape.

Here’s a glimpse of how we celebrated Emirati Women’s Day at MMJS Consulting last week.

We brought together our Emirati colleagues for a special gathering, joined virtually by women from across our GCC offices. A highlight of the celebration was an inspiring session with Maryam Alzarooni, the UAE’s first female Taekwondo Master, the first Emirati woman to be internationally certified as both a Taekwondo referee and coach, and one of the youngest Taekwondo Masters in the GCC.

Maryam shared her remarkable journey, the challenges she overcame and the determination that helped her achieve her goals. Her message on believing in yourself, remaining consistent and persevering through challenges resonated deeply with everyone present.

The celebration also included a special felicitation of our Emirati colleagues, recognising their valuable contributions to MMJS.

At MMJS, we remain committed to fostering a people-first culture where women are empowered to pursue their ambitions, grow and lead with confidence.

The Federal Tax Authority has issued Public Clarification VATP045, providing clarity on the VAT treatment of Concerned Goods imported into the UAE on or before 31 December 2025, particularly around self-invoicing requirements and Input Tax recovery.

Key highlights include:

🔹 Relief from the self-Tax Invoice requirement for the period before 1 January 2026 where the overseas supplier invoice and Customs declaration are maintained and reporting has been duly done in VAT returns.
🔹 Input Tax recovery may still be available where the required supporting documentation and recovery conditions are satisfied
🔹 Businesses should review historical imports to confirm appropriate VAT reporting, documentation and Input Tax recovery
🔹 Administrative exceptions or Voluntary Disclosures may need to be considered where the prescribed requirements were not met
VATP045 provides important relief, but also highlights the need for businesses to reassess historical import transactions and identify any corrective actions required.

Read our latest UAE Tax Alert to understand the clarification and its practical implications for businesses.
