What is notarization, and what does a Notary Public actually do?
Notarization is a formal legal process used for certain documents, declarations, and transactions. A Notary Public can notarize documents according to applicable law or upon request and can also notarize and certify certain declarations.
In simple terms, notarization is more than putting a stamp on a document. It is a formal process that can involve verifying and recording the relevant document, declaration, signature, date, or other legally required elements, depending on the type of transaction.
For example, Abu Dhabi Judicial Department provides notary services covering matters such as powers of attorney, declarations, signature authentication and proving the date of certain documents.
The important point is that not every document needs notarization. The requirement depends on the document and the purpose for which it will be used.
