Did you know?

Every year, millions of Canadians wear a Poppy leading up to Remembrance Day.

Since the Poppy was adopted as Canada's symbol of Remembrance in 1921, The Royal Canadian Legion has served as its national steward. The National Poppy Campaign, which runs from October 24 until November 11, preserves the Poppy’s meaning and supports Veterans and Remembrance.

A celebration 50 years in the making!

We were so excited to host a special 50th anniversary event in Winnipeg last weekend. Guests struck their very own Winnipeg 50 tokens, learned about the facility’s five decades of history, and were treated to live music and refreshments.

“Rather than creating a design with one fixed interpretation, I wanted to include meaningful symbols that people could connect with in their own way.”

This year’s third and final commemorative circulation coin honours The Royal Canadian Legion on its 100th anniversary. Designed by Vladyslava Pashchenko of Calgary, Alberta (Castor Legion Branch #119) and winner of the 2023 Legion National Foundation Senior Colour Poster Contest, the coin celebrates a Canadian institution’s century-long legacy.
