Today, August 26th, we proudly recognize Women’s Equality Day on the anniversary of the certification of the 19th Amendment in 1920, which prohibited states from denying the right to vote on the basis of s*x. This Amendment has been in place for more than 100 years, and we celebrate the progress that we have made and honor the women whose leadership and perseverance helped pave the way. While we pause to celebrate, we also acknowledge that more work remains on the road ahead in the pursuit of true Equality.

At BWB&O, we remain committed to fostering a culture grounded in equity and respect, where every individual has the opportunity to contribute, lead, and succeed. We acknowledge that meaningful progress is built over time through continued advocacy, determination, and action.

Today, we celebrate the women who have shaped our past, those who are making an impact today, and those who will continue to challenge boundaries and inspire progress for generations to come in our communities, our workplaces, and particularly within the legal profession!

Founding Principal Nicole Whyte and members of BWB&O’s Family Law team attended the Orange County Bar Association’s (OCBA) Family Law Section July Meeting, held at Dave & Buster’s in Orange.

Nicole presented alongside Mark P. Poliquin, Partner at Poliquin & DeGrave LLP, on “No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: Avoiding Malpractice in Your Family Law Practice.” Together, they shared practical strategies and real-world insights to help practitioners identify common pitfalls, manage risk, and uphold ethical standards.

Thank you to OCBA for the opportunity to present and contribute to these valuable conversations, and to Silvana Sarkis, J.D., CDRE, for sponsoring the event.
