🚨 Important LMIA Update – Effective April 10, 2026! 🇨🇦

Big changes announced by Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) regarding Low-Wage LMIA applications.

📊 The unemployment rates have now been updated for different cities across Canada, and this brings a major opportunity for employers and workers.

✅ Cities with an unemployment rate below 6% are now eligible to apply for Low-Wage LMIA again.
📅 This update is effective from April 10, 2026, until July 9, 2026.

👉 This means many employers who were previously not eligible can now move forward with hiring foreign workers under the low-wage stream.

⚠️ Important: These changes are time-sensitive, so if you’re planning to apply, this is the right time to act!

If you’re an employer or a worker and want to understand how this update impacts your case, we’re here to help.

Permit to Stay vs TRV vs Visitor Record — Short Explanation 🇨🇦

🔹 Temporary Resident Visa (TRV):
Allows you to travel and enter Canada. It does not decide how long you can stay.

🔹 Visitor Record:
Issued inside Canada to extend your stay as a visitor. It shows your new expiry date of status.

🔹 Permit to Stay (Work/Study Permit):
Allows you to legally stay in Canada to work or study until the expiry date on the permit.

📌 Simple Rule:
Visa = Entry to Canada
Permit / Visitor Record = Legal Stay in Canada

Spousal Open Work Permit Extension Approved with Reconsideration ✅

Another successful case handled by The Ninth House Immigration.

Our client initially submitted their Spousal Open Work Permit Extension inside Canada by themselves, which unfortunately resulted in a refusal. After the refusal, the client approached our team for professional assistance.

We carefully reviewed the refusal reasons and prepared a strong reconsideration request to IRCC. Even though the complete employment letter from the employer was not available, we provided proper explanations and supporting documentation to address the concerns raised in the refusal.

With the right strategy and detailed submission, the reconsideration was successful and the Spousal Open Work Permit Extension was approved.

This case clearly shows that a properly prepared reconsideration request can make a big difference, even after a refusal.

If your application has been refused or you need help with reconsideration or extensions, professional guidance can help you move forward with confidence.
