The University of San Agustin – College of Law Bulahan Moot Court Team proudly emerged as WORLD CHAMPION at the 2026 Monroe E. Price Media Law Moot Court Competition – Global Rounds, held from April 13–16, 2026 at the Bonavero Institute of Human Rights, University of Oxford.

A global victory. An Ilonggo triumph. A historic first for the University—securing its first-ever championship on the world stage and affirming its place among the leading advocates in media and human rights law.

Team Captain Marco Giorgione Dava was also recognized as the 10th Best Oralist of the Preliminary Rounds, following his earlier recognition as 5th Best Oralist in the Asia Pacific Rounds held January 12–14, 2026.

The Parliament extends its highest commendation to the Bulahan Price Team for their excellence and discipline as they continue to uphold the institution’s proud tradition of distinction on the international stage.

PRICE APAC TEAMS CONTINUE TO DOMINATE INTERNATIONAL ROUNDS

The University of San Agustin (Philippines) wins the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP of the 2025/2026 Price Media Law Moot Court Competition. This extends the dominance of Asia Pacific teams in Price Moot.

Other APAC teams also made their mark this year with the following results:

QUARTERFINALISTS:
Singapore Management University (Singapore)
University of the Philippines (Philippines)

OCTOFINALISTS:
Ateneo De Naga University (Philippines)
University of International Business and Economics (China)

BEST MEMORIAL RUNNER-UP
Peking University School of Transnational Law (China)

University of San Agustin's victory is the 5th for the Philippines after wins by the University of the Philippines (2015, 2019,2023) and the University of San Carlos (2018). Singapore Management University has also won it 4 times (2010,2016,2017,2020) while the International Islamic University of Malaysia won the inaugural edition (2008). Thus, APAC teams have won the competition 10 times out of 19 editions.

Taking time to honor the man behind the Price Moot.

To Monroe, your vision has created a global network of individuals passionate about human rights and legal advocacy. We will carry on your legacy.

It is with great sadness that the Bonavero Institute has learned of the passing of Professor Monroe E Price.

Professor Price founded the Programme in Comparative Media Law and Policy at the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies, University of Oxford, where the Monroe E Price Media Law Moot Court Competition was established. The competition, named in his honour in recognition of his lifelong devotion and outstanding contributions to the development of media freedom and the rule of law, has been hosted by the Bonavero Institute of Human Rights since 2017.

A personal message from the Monroe E Price Media Law Moot Court Competition team:

“It is difficult to imagine a world in which the Monroe E Price Media Law Moot Court Competition will take place without Monroe. Participants, coaches, and judges at both the International and Regional Rounds over the years will know that Monroe made every effort to be present and fully immersed in the competition — both as a judge and behind the scenes. Monroe loved the competition. He often described the competition as an embodiment of his personal and professional commitment to freedom of expression and his deep commitment to internationalism.

We extend our condolences to his family as well as everyone who has known Monroe over the years. He will be deeply missed.”
