🚨 Immigration Update: Possible USCIS Adjudication Holds Due to New Vetting Process
AILA has alerted immigration attorneys that USCIS appears to have implemented a new security vetting process effective April 27, 2026, which may result in temporary “holds” on many pending immigration cases.
Early reports suggest that some applicants may be required to resubmit fingerprints before USCIS can continue adjudicating their cases. At this time, the full scope, affected case types, and expected timing remain unclear.
This may impact a wide range of cases, including:
✅ Adjustment of Status
✅ Asylum and refugee-related cases
✅ Family-based immigration
✅ Business immigration
✅ DACA
✅ T and U visa matters
✅ VAWA cases
What should applicants do now?
📌 Watch carefully for any USCIS notices by mail or through your USCIS online account.
📌 Do not ignore biometrics or fingerprint appointment notices.
📌 Do not submit anything unless USCIS specifically requests it.
📌 Expect that some pending cases may experience additional delays.
📌 Contact your immigration attorney if you receive a new notice or if your case appears to be delayed.
