I’ve said before that I like solving bookkeeping puzzles, and I mean it.
Give me a business where something doesn’t quite add up, accounts have gotten messy, or the owner knows something is off but can’t figure out what happened. That’s when my brain starts having fun.
For the business owner, though, it usually isn’t fun at all. They just want to know where their money went, whether the numbers are right, and if there’s anything sitting in the books that’s going to bite them later.
That’s the difference between looking at bookkeeping as data entry and looking at it as problem solving.
I’m not interested in moving numbers around just to say the books are done. I want the numbers to make sense so the person running the business can actually trust them.
And yes, apparently that means I enjoy puzzles most people would rather throw across the room. 😂
