If your first birth feels like a blur, you are not alone.

One of the moms I recently spoke with described it this way:

“I kind of blacked out.”

She remembered pieces. Fragments. But not the full experience.

Birth is intense. Sometimes deeply primal. You are not meant to be calm, polished, and making executive decisions every 5 minutes.

But if you came away feeling disconnected, confused, pressured, or like things happened faster than you could process… that matters.

And it’s okay to want something different next time.

If having calm, evidence-based support during pregnancy (without needing in-person doula care) would feel helpful, I created something for exactly that:

Yes, the rumors are true! My family and I are moving out-of-state this summer.

Most parents-to-be spend far more time thinking about the baby gear than thinking about the model of care they are stepping into.

But two early decisions can shape so much of your birth experience:

✨ WHERE will you give birth?
✨ WHO will care for you?

Not because there is one universally “right” answer.

But because different birth settings and different providers often approach pregnancy, labor, and birth very differently.

These choices can influence:

• how risk is communicated
• what testing is routinely recommended
• what procedures and medications are routinely recommended
• whether your appointments feel rushed or relational
• how much room there is for questions
• how your partner is included
• whether birth is approached primarily as a medical event to manage, or a physiologic process to support
• and ultimately, how you feel about your birth afterward

Birth is not just about how your baby arrives.

It is also about how YOU are treated along the way.

If these decisions feel big… that’s because they are.

And if you have questions, that’s a good thing.

That’s exactly why I created Doula Chats: a space to ask questions, explore your options, and make informed decisions that align with your values.

Have questions about your birth options? Drop them below, or come join us 💜
