🚨 BEING SUED BY A DEBT COLLECTOR? DON’T IGNORE IT.
One of the biggest mistakes consumers make is waiting too long to respond to a lawsuit—or assuming there’s nothing they can do after a default judgment has already been entered.
📄 If you were recently served:
Your Answer matters. What you admit, deny, challenge, and raise as a defense can affect how your case moves forward.
⚖️ If there’s already a default judgment:
If you were never properly served or never received notice of the lawsuit, you may have grounds to ask the court to vacate or set aside the judgment, depending on the facts and your state’s law.
And remember: a debt collector filing a lawsuit does not automatically mean every allegation in that lawsuit has been proven.
They may still need to establish the amount owed, ownership of the debt, and their legal right to collect.
🚫 Don’t blindly copy court documents from the internet.
🚫 Don’t ignore your deadlines.
🚫 Don’t wait for a wage garnishment or bank levy before taking action.
At Big Shot Consumer Law Advocates, we help consumers understand their cases, prepare documents, navigate court procedures, and identify potential options for responding to collection lawsuits and challenging default judgments.
