With heartfelt sympathy we extend our condolences to the family of former mayor Tom Henderson.
Mayor Henderson served the town for one tremendous term from November 1992 until 1996 and was instrumental in establishing a secondary source of potable water for the town's water department. He and his council collaborated with the Water Works and Sewer Board of the city of Winfield in establishing a partnership which allowed the town to purchase additional potable water. This pursuit expanded the water system into a larger service area providing a source of safe potable water to homes located in the communities of Piney Grove, Bazemore, Whites Chapel, Tidwell's Chapel and other portions of Fayette County. Mayor Henderson exhibited his personal intuition in securing a beneficial grant through the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs, which assisted with the project of expanding the water departments service area. Mayor Henderson was relentless on his approach to bring a source of safe potable water into homes in those communities and was extremely instrumental on the overall success of the water service extension project. He and his council were also successful in annexing a large portion of the Piney Grove and Bazemore communities into the Glen Allen town limits. Although Mr. Henderson only served his constituents for one term as mayor, his relentless pursuit and tireless dedication will always stand as a statement to his service for the town.
Sincerely, Allen J. Dunavant
Mayor
