Because Martin Pringle combines specialization with a broad general practice, we have ample resources to handle matters involving both concentrated expertise and an extensive variety of legal knowledge. The firm does not have rigidly defined practice areas. The division of work within the firm is designed to provide flexible, highly competent and cost-effective representation for clients, and allows the lawyers to retain control over the nature of their practices. Associates and legal assistants are used whenever appropriate to keep legal expenses as economical as possible. A COMMITMENT TO CLIENT RELATIONSHIPS
Martin Pringle measures its success not only by the firm’s own longevity but by that of its client relationships. It is not unusual for clients to stay with us for decades; often a relationship that begins in one specialty practice grows into others, where we provide the same high quality, cost-effective services. Between specific matters, we take a continuing interest in our clients' affairs, keeping them abreast of developments that we feel affect their interests. Whether providing counsel in one area or across a wide range, over time we build their trust.

Seventy-five years ago, our attorneys focused heavily on oil & gas law, reflecting Kansas’ growing energy industry. The state reached its all-time peak oil production in 1956, yielding 124 million barrels in a single year. Kansas oil and gas production boomed into the 1960s, driven by the Hugoton Gas Area and the El Dorado Oil Field. Martin Pringle has maintained a robust oil and gas law practice ever since.

After serving in the Army during World War II, both Robert Martin and Kenneth Pringle, Jr. completed college and law school before starting their law practices After law school at the University of Colorado, Mr. Martin served as law clerk to the Chief Judge of the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas. He then practiced tax law for a short time in Cimarron, Kansas before heading to Wichita. In 1950, Mr. Martin associated with a group of oil and gas attorneys at a firm known as Collins Williams & Hughes. Meanwhile, after graduating from the University of Kansas School of Law in 1950, Mr. Pringle joined his father’s law practice in Wichita, where they too specialized in oil and gas law. Intermittently Mr. Martin and Mr. Pringle crossed paths and, in 1951, while working together on a case and driving back to Wichita from Greenwood County, a plan was hatched for the Pringles to join the Collins Williams Hughes & Martin firm. And the Martin and Pringle names were brought together for the first time.
