If you're anything like me, this past year has left you feeling hopeless and helpless at times. Every experience we go through is an opportunity for growth. Amid the craziness of this last year, I have been asking myself: what did I learn that I will carry into the future? One of the lessons on my heart is that I CAN always choose to act in a way that will help others and unite my community. I do not want to be just another voice howling in the void of social media, but I want to be a person of action, sacrifice, and service.
Therefore, I am excited to announce that I have accepted the nomination to run for this year's Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's (LLS) Woman of the Year campaign!
Cancer patients and their families need our help more than ever this year in light of COVID-19, and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society is stepping up to the plate to continue the fight against blood cancer.
LLS marries three things I am passionate about into one organization! I am fighting in honor of the legacy of my friends who have lost their battles to blood cancer, I am fighting for the people who are currently facing the challenges of blood cancer in the midst of extraordinary times, and I am fighting for a future of equality in healthcare.
I'm hopeful for the future. Together we can unite as a community to beat blood cancer...because fighting cancer is in ALL our blood!
