Who sits on the bench matters. More than most people realize.
I had the privilege of working under Schnelle Tonge at the Palm Beach County Public Defenderās Office. Over the years, sheās become so much more than a former supervisor. Sheās a mentor, a friend, and someone who has consistently encouraged meāwhether we were preparing for races weād both signed up for, talking through difficult cases, celebrating wins, or helping each other through the inevitable challenges that come with this profession.
Iāve watched her pour more than 20 years into serving our community as an Assistant Public Defender. Iāve watched her become a supervisor, earn recognition like 40 Under 40, and accomplish so many incredible thingsānot because anything was handed to her, but because she outworked everyone around her.
One thing Iāve always admired about Schnelle is that she never forgets whatās at stake.
As lawyers, itās easy to talk about ācases.ā But theyāre not just cases. Theyāre people. Families. Careers. Futures. Every decision made from the bench has the potential to change someoneās life forever. The judges I respect most are the ones who never lose sight of that responsibility.
I also believe our judiciary should continue to reflect the community it serves. We need more women. More diverse perspectives. More people with different professional and life experiences who are committed to fairness, integrity, and treating every person who walks into a courtroom with dignity.
Whether you know Schnelle or not, I hope youāll take the time to learn about the judicial candidates on your ballot.
Judicial elections arenāt the races to skip. They directly impact our community, and your vote truly matters.
Iām proud to support my mentor and friend, Schnelle Tonge, for Judge in Palm Beach County. ā¤ļø
Congratulations, my friend. I canāt wait to watch you continue serving our community in this next chapter. Schnelle Tonge for Judge
